Rules for hosting in Montego Bay
Possibly. Jamaica licenses tourist accommodation nationally — homes, apartments and villas let to visitors need a Jamaica Tourist Board licence, processed by TPDCo. We haven’t confirmed any Montego Bay–specific rules yet.
Published rules, checked October 21, 2026. This is a summary of published rules, not legal advice. A city rule does not confirm that a particular address qualifies: we check your property with you, and you remain responsible for registration and licences.
Jamaica Tourist Board licence
Anyone providing tourism services, including accommodation, needs a Jamaica Tourist Board licence; TPDCo processes applications. Categories include Resort Cottage (apartments, guest houses and villas) and Home Stay / Bed & Breakfast.
Health certification
A public health official has said paid short-term hosts should be certified as tourist establishments under the Tourist Board Act and the public health regulations.
