We do require our tenants to purchase a property insurance but tenant’s insurance does not cover your property. Tenant’s insurance only covers the tenant’s belongings and liability arising from their actions. If they overflow a tub or plug the toilet, their insurance will cover the damage, but anything related to your property like for example a faulty washing machine would covered under your rental property insurance policy.
